»TWISTY CUP 2011

Wednesday June 1, 2011, High Noon M-Space in Tacoma presents Twisty Cup Competition 2011, GAS edition, where glassblowers from across the globe descend on the City of Destiny to compete for fame and prizes in a battle royale. This year's competition will be called by celebrity judge Charlie Parriott and emceed by the G Man, Greg Owen. Contestants have 10 minutes to make a twisty cup and knock it off onto the judging table. No cups are annealed, judging is done hot. The judge sets the criteria. Criteria in past events have been: performance, thinness, punty, ridge definition, evenness, number of heats, creativity, and crispness. Prizes include Davide Fuin goblets, Spiral Arts pipe and punty, invitation to compete in the Blow Off on the Corning Road Show on June 2 at the GAS Conference, and more. Available at the event: limited edition tees, handblown twisty cups, refreshments. The event costs $20 to enter and is free for spectators, so come cheer (or heckle) your favorite glassblower. You do not need a GAS conference pass to compete or spectate. Limited space. Pre-registration required to guarantee entry. Email mspacejoe@gmail.com to register.
